Photo book introduction
This 192-page collection of travel snapshots taken by photographer Shinya Takahashi over a period of about 10 years.
Takahashi, who established the original genre of landscape portraits, says that snapshots are "my favorite and my life's work." This photobook is packed with snapshots that capture the "atmosphere of each place" that he felt while traveling to seven countries: India, America, Iceland, Thailand, Russia, Indonesia, and Portugal.
The title "IN THE ZONE" comes from a word Takahashi said: "When I walk around and look at the country, I sometimes get into the zone and want to capture the whole city."
With the city as the main focus, Takahashi's works focus on the people, activities, and light and shadow that blend into the city, and he creates a variety of works that are created through his "improvisational photography" style, in which he cuts out the scene instantly, without waiting for the right moment.
Takahashi's thoughts at the time of the shoot and his words that he felt while traveling around the country are scattered throughout the film.

About the Author
Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1972. At the age of 18, he discovered a film camera and worked in a studio for five years. After that, he lived a life away from photography, but around 2004, he started posting snapshots from his trips to Turkey on his blog, forming the foundation of the photography community. He started Instagram in 2012 and X in 2017, and as of 2024, he has become a popular photographer with a total of about 440,000 followers on social media. He is also actively involved in community activities such as holding the "Shinyā Photography School" and "Shinyā Photography Class," and takes snapshots while traveling both domestically and overseas as his life's work. His books include "How to Create Drama from Photos?" (Impress), "How to Take Scenery Portraits" and "Impermanence" (both published by Genkosha).
