Two Lightroom presets by photographer Maki, who continues to capture daily life with her children and parent-child selfies amidst the nature of the four seasons. “GREEN” brings out the lushness of greenery, clearly rendering fine details while giving the entire image a soft, veiled texture. It blends naturally with blue skies, the sea, flowers, and human skin tones. “GOLD” is adjusted with subtle additions of orange and magenta to convey the vividness of a sunset and the emotional impact felt in the moment, enhancing the warmth and presence of the light. These two presets are packed with the expertise born from years of photographing children in nature.

“‘GREEN’ is a preset that vividly brings out the light, color, and life force found in nature. It renders greens—like fresh foliage, deep forests, and meadows—with a lush, vibrant look. By subtly tightening the blacks, it accentuates the light and creates natural depth and dimension in the photo. While it renders details crisply and delicately, it gives the overall image a smooth, high-quality texture as if it were draped in a thin veil. I love taking photos of my children in places with greenery, so I named this preset ‘GREEN,’ which I use regularly. But it’s not just for greens. It beautifully reproduces the transparent blue of the sky and sea, the colors of flowers, and the natural, healthy flush of human skin. It also makes dark hair and eyes look impressively striking. From the powerful light of a sunny day to soft shadows and backlighting, this is an essential preset for my photography that can be used widely regardless of the season or scene.”

Preset ② “GOLD”

“‘GOLD’ is a preset that gives light a sense of warmth and radiance, turning ordinary moments into dramatic scenes. Sometimes, a sunset that looked so vivid in person feels a bit washed out in a photo. Wanting to recreate the colors of that moving experience—the beauty that left me speechless—I added a touch of orange and magenta, aiming for a look where you can truly feel the warmth and presence of the light.
This preset is perfect not only for the golden hues of dusk but also for the autumn foliage season that I love so much. It highlights reds, oranges, and yellows, making the ever-changing colors of autumn deep and impressive. It renders lines sharply, but by lifting the blacks just a little, it ensures that light—such as backlighting, side lighting, or sunlight filtering through trees—is accentuated softly. It brings out the temperature of the light spreading across the scene, making it a special preset that turns a casual day into a scene that stays in your heart.”

About the Artist

Maki
Photographer and mother of two. She began photography when her eldest son was born, focusing on the theme of “photos that only I, as a mother, can take” amidst the natural light of the four seasons, continuing to document daily life with her children and parent-child selfies. In addition to serving as a seminar lecturer and writer for various camera manufacturers, she is active in a wide range of fields, including corporate tie-ups and commercial photography, particularly in travel and tourism. In 2026, she held a traveling solo exhibition titled “MYSTERY.” Winner of the 1st Prize in the Professional category at the International Photography Awards 2026.
